My Favorite Hammer

Some of you may have seen pictures of my beautiful chasing hammer over the years.  I call it Princess and have used it nearly every day for 6 years and it developed a crack in the handle.  I was horrified. We have frequent requests for donation of our work and usually we will make a donation of money instead for several reason, but we are honored to use our metal work to support the Metal Museum in their mission to "The mission of the Metal Museum is to preserve, promote, and advance the art and craft of fine metalwork."  From their beautiful campus on the cliff over the Mississippi River they tell the story of metalwork and metal workers with exhibitions, classes and special events throughout the year.  We want to help them tell this story. Sweets or Savories?

Of course we enjoy the variety of foods on a Charcuterie tray, but we call it a "Picky Plate".  This is a savory Tidbit Tray with ham, cheese, olives with muscadines As a contrast.  Muscadines are a grape native to the southern part of the US.    Sometimes we like a little different combination with dried fruit, nuts, chocolate and fresh fruit in our Tidbit Tray.  Which do you enjoy more? Loving the Challenge

Sometimes you just need a jump start. There is nothing like working on a deadline to get your blood pumping.  The copper Aspen Leaf is in the shop at the Metal Museum in Memphis, Tennessee.  So I challenged myself to finish it in time for the deadline.  I have to say it was hard on my hands and to stay focused to have it finished in time, but I did it.  I am sure you challenge your self to do things too. Sweet Inspiration - Grape Leaves

Muscadine grades grow wild in the southern states. They can be red, black or amber colored.  The skin Is tough but he grapes are amazingly sweet.  They don't grow in clusters, but each one grows from a main stem.   The leaves have such a beautiful shape that we can’t resist the inspiration to make pieces using the grape leaf.
