Some days are good chasing days and some are not. Today was a good day. The lines weren't jagged and my hands were in good shape to work. Every texture mark you see in this image is made by a single hammer blow on a chasing tool. The heavier lines are chased in by moving the tool and hammering as it moves. The hammer blows and tool movement is coordinated so we have no jagged or depth variation in the lines. We all have something we particularly like to do. We are over run with figs and I just love it when they come in. We share them with the birds, raccoons and squirrels, but not because we actually want to. So far this year we have frozen them, dried them, made jam and roasted them with olives, honey and feta cheese. It is keeping us busy to keep up with the fig trees, but you know we will be sorry to see them go. I am glad we have some to use in the winter. Muscadine grades grow wild in the southern states. They can be red, black or amber colored. The skin Is tough but he grapes are amazingly sweet. They don't grow in clusters, but each one grows from a main stem. The leaves have such a beautiful shape that we can’t resist the inspiration to make pieces using the grape leaf.
